Woodthorne Primary - Year 6 - Prime Number movies

During the Spring Term 2006, the City Learning Centre funded a mathematics lecture at the Jennie Lee Centre, Wolverhampton by the Oxford Professor Of Mathematics Marcus Du Sautoy. Entitled “Why David Beckham wears the Number 23 shirt”, the lecture focused on the fascinating world of prime numbers.

Schools attending the lecture were offered the opportunity to attend a post-lecture session at the City Learning Centre. During these sessions, students planned, shot and edited short films based around the theme of prime numbers. Here is one of the results from Woodthorne Primary School:

Prime Murders

A news broadcast based around the concept of a series of suspicious deaths in the Wolverhampton area. What is the connection between the deaths and when will the next victim be struck down?

The King’s School - Year 9 - TV Genres

Year 9 students from The King’s School attended the City Learning Centre during the Autumn Term 2004. During their sessons at the CLC, the students planned, shot and edited a television broadcast in one of three genres: Childrens’ TV, News Broadcast or Horror Movie. Here are two examples of their work:

News broadcast

A local news broadcast featuring news, sport and weather sections (and a guest appearance from a stupid “protected witness”).

Childrens’ TV - The Dinky Dudes

A tale of a lottery win, betrayal and admirable forgiveness from the Dinky Dudes trio.
