Staff Training: Summer Term 2008

The CLC is leading a series of staff training opportunities during the Summer Term 2008. All sessions run from 9:30 am - 3:30 pm at the CLC. There is no cost to these sessions for staff working in Wolverhampton Local Authority schools. A buffet lunch will be provided. Each session is limited to 20 places. Digital Media with Apple Mac : Thursday 3rd July 2008.

Aimed at both Primary and Secondary Staff.

The Apple Macintosh platform is ideal for media work of all kinds. During this session, we will look at how each of the main applications of the iLife suite (GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto) and the animation package iCanAnimate, can allow you and your learners to express themselves in new and intuitive ways.

This session is aimed at both those who have Macintosh computers in school already, and those interested in the creative possibilities Macs offer in the curriculum.

Free Resources in the Creative Primary Curriculum: Friday 4th July 2008.

Aimed at Primary Staff.

Free software, available to download from the internet, can be effectively used to enhance the learning and creativity of your learners.

During this session, we will look at the use of free tools for film-making, creating slideshows, recording audio, and creating animations and have hands-on experience of using free tools

All software will be provided to you on CD to take away and use back in school.

Beyond Google - Internet tools for teachers: Thursday 10th July 2008.

Aimed at Secondary staff

How effectively are you using the Internet in your lessons? During this session, we will look at how the latest, dynamic websites can help your learners to be more creative, and to collaborate effectively with classmates or beyond.

Topics will include better web searching, finding copyright-free materials, sharing images, annotations and slides online and downloading teaching materials from video sharing sites.

Using digital photography: Friday 11th July 2008.

Aimed at Secondary staff

The creative use of digital images can enhance any learning experience. During this session, we will look at how to improve the composition and image quality of student photos. We will use simple editing techniques to create dynamic images, and look at how to combine images to create film projects as portfolios of work or in support of literacy projects.

Finally, we will look at tools on the web for sharing, annotating and discussing digital images.
