Stop-frame Animation

All of the CLC’s core work with Secondary Schools is now tailored individually and planned collaboratively with teaching staff in school. This page is retained for referenece as a description of the kind of work we have done with schools in the past.

Stop-frame animation

stpeterssnail.jpgStop-frame animation is a powerful tool in story-telling, fuelling the imagination of young people with creative possibilities that are difficult or impossible to achieve using traditional film-making.During the stop-frame animation session, students will learn how to use models (either provided or made themselves) to tell simple stories. Working in groups, students will storyboard and script a short animated film. They will then shoot the film, frame-by-frame.

Animations will then be imported into a video editing package (either iMovie on the Macintosh or Pinnacle on PC) for title and credit sequences to be added, voice-overs to be recorded, and adding music and sound effects. Completed films will be forwarded to schools on CD.

Stop-frame animation is an exciting and fun alternative to traditional film-making.
