All of the CLC’s core work with Secondary Schools is now tailored individually and planned collaboratively with teaching staff in school. This page is retained for referenece as a description of the kind of work we have done with schools in the past.
Digital Imaging
During this session, pupils will learn how the media uses digital imaging techniques to create an “idealised” look. Issues of the copyright of images from print and the Internet will be discussed and analysed.
Pupils will have the opportunity to use a digital camera and to manipulate digital photographs to improve tonal range and contrast. They will combine and layer images to create dynamic effects. Pupils will also look at the creative opportunities of blur effects, colour correction and monochromatic imaging. Images will be compiled to produce an advertisement or poster. Printed samples of their imaging work will be available to take back to school. Images can also be uploaded to the CLC eLearning portal for downloading back in school or at home.
For examples of digital images created by students working at the CLC, visit the Gallery section.
Digital photography is rapidly taking over from traditional photography. The ability to capture and edit images on a home PC opens up creative possibilities which were previously only available to professional artists and designers.
