Wolverhampton City Learning Centre (CLC)

During the year 2008-2009, the CLC is working with every Secondary School in the city to deliver sessions to students and staff focussed around eSafety (Read more here). The sessions are based around the CEOP ThinkUKnow training, a structured programme of resources and video materials aimed at students aged 11-16. The key messages of the ThinkUKnow training are:

• How to have fun
• How to stay in control
• How to report a problem

To access the ThinkUKnow materials, teachers need to participate in a half-day training session from accredited CEOP Ambassador trainers. CLC staff now have this accreditation, and will be offering opportunities for Wolverhampton Secondary Staff to access the ThinkUKnow training later in the year. The ThinkUKnow sessions include a number of very high quality films, aimed at clarifying the risks of social networking and instant messaging … “Think You Know who you’re talking to online?”. In addition to these materials, however, there are a number of other valuable films available online. I thought it would be useful to bring together some of these resources into a single post.
