thinkuknow.jpgDuring 2008-9, the City Learning Centre is working with every Secondary School in Wolverhampton to deliver a programme of eSafety training with students and teachers.

A group of students from each Secondary school in the city is visiting the CLC to participate in a 2 day project. During Day 1, the students are following the CEOP ThinkUKnow traning.

The training is aimed at alerting students to the potential risks of the latest web technologies - from chat to social networking - while recognising the enormous benefits that safe use of the Net can bring to students in terms of entertainment, research, communication and self-expression.

During Day 2, the students are creating short films to explain their own rules for safe use of the Net. The films created by the first two schools in participate in the programme - The King’s school and Wednesfield High - have aptly demonstrated the maturity and understanding of the students.

Teachers from each of the schools are being invited to the Centre for a twilight programme of sessions to allow them to deliver the ThinkUKnow materials to other groups of students back in school.

The films are being distributed back into the schools as a valuable local resource in the teaching of eSafety principles.
