The Northicote School - Space 2 day project - Day 2 - 31st Oct. 2007
During Day 2 of their space project, Year 9 students from The Northicote School participated in the following activities:
- A research / analysis exercise based on the Moon Landing “hoax” (the idea that the moon landings in the late 1960s / early 1970s were faked and were filmed in a Hollywood studio). How do we evaluate evidence?
- Surviving in Space - How do you sleep in space? How do you go to the toilet in space?
- Exploring the International Space Station using the Virtual ISS simulator
- Designing and building Mars Landers to safely landed an egg dropped from a height
At the end of Day 2, we carried out a video link-up with Dr. Matthew Kenworthy, a British astronomer working at the University of Arizona in Tucson, USA. Dr. Kenworthy is part of a team of astronomers seeking to take images of planets orbiting stars other than our Sun. You can watch the interview, or download an audio version or mobile phone (3gp) video version, from the following page in our podcast section:
