St. Anthony’s Adventure Game Day - 8th June 2007

filed under Session Reports June 8th, 2007 Richard Anderson

Today, Year 5 students from St. Anthony’s Primary School visited the CLC to participate in our Adventure Game Day. Students used the CLC-written game, created using Immersive Education’s MissionMaker software, as a stimulus for a variety of activities. The game features three main parts:

  • An introductory sequence, where the player explores a cityscape and becomes caught up in an alien invasion.
  • An English section in which the player solves puzzles to recreate the poem “Windy Nights” by Robert Louis Stevenson.
  • A Maths section, in which the player solves puzzles and answers questions to escape from a mysterious underground complex.

Student’s used scenes from the introductory sequence as a stimulus for creative writing in Kar2ouche, and collaborated together to create a video to accompany the poem “Windy Nights” by using Creative Common’s images from flickr.com.

Here is the video poem:

Congratulations to the students on their focus on working, competing and creating during a busy day! Images from the session can be found in the CLC Gallery:
