Field View Primary School - Wolverhampton Art Gallery visit - 26th / 27th June 2007

Yesterday, Year 3 and Year 4 students from Field View Primary School visited Wolverhampton Art Gallery. They were accompanied around the gallery by Art Interpreters from the Education Team at the the gallery. They also used a PDA tour, written by the CLC in collaboration with the Art Gallery, to explore the Georgian Gallery. The tour challenged the student with a number of interactive exercises to try to understand the symbolism and composition of paintings by artists such as Gainsborough, Edward Turner and Fuseli.

Today, the students attended a follow-up session at the CLC. During the session, students:

  • created their own portrait, combining together images taken (in costume) at the Art Gallery with backgrounds. (See the online gallery for the results).
  • took part in an interactive web quiz
  • recorded narrations for several of the paintings they saw at the art gallery for inclusion into a 3D version of the gallery in MissionMaker.
