Over the last three days, Year 8 students from Our Lady and St. Chad’s Catholic Sports College have been creating short animated films. The students have learned the basic skills of stop-frame animation, planning, storyboarding, shooting and editing.
Today Year 5 students spent the day at the CLC finding out about Healthy Living. They have already done some wok on food groups, calculating heart rate and the effects of exercise on the heart. The students worked in small groups to test and record various body measurements.
In the final day of their Space project, Y8 students from Aldersley High School edited together their podcast sections, learned about living in space, explored the International Space Station using the Virtual International Space Station and designed and built Mars Landers. They were also presented their T-shirts, designed during Day 1.

Today, the Year 8 students from Aldersley created their own sections of a space podcast. Each group of students worked on a different topic:
The use of animals in space exploration.
The Moon Landing “Hoax” conspiracy
Could there be life on other planets?
UFOs - alien or otherwise
The Mercury Seven (the USA’s first astronauts)
Students collected relevant links to a delicious account (http://del.icio.us/clcresearch), and then planned and recorded using GarageBand on Apple Macs. They had to focus on the key ideas in their topic and find an effective way to communicate their ideas to an audience. The podcast sections will be edited together tomorrow morning and posted to the podcast section of the website.
