RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is the most powerful, versatile and efficient way to browse new content on your favourite websites. However, it’s not very easy to explain exactly how it works!
Here’s a fun video that does a great job of describing the basics:

Today, I’ve been working with Year 6 students from East Park Junior School. We’ve been creating fantasy stories using Kar2ouche Reading and Writing Stories. The stories were looseley based on ¨The Wizard Of Oz¨. We imported black and white photos of the students to form the start of the story (¨We’re really bored¨), entering the fantasy world (¨What is going to happen to us?¨) and the return home.
The students had to:
- plan a story
- select characters, settings and props
- import photographs
- write a schort script
- compose slides to tell the story
- record voice-overs for the characters
- edit the story to improve pacing, spellings etc.
I was really impressed by the results. The students already had some knowledge of Kar2ouche and took their skills to the next level over the course of the day.

Two groups of Year 10 students from St. Edmund’s Catholic School have visited the CLC over the last two days for introductory sessions to Adobe Fireworks. During the sessions, students have learned to use both the bitmap (photo) and vector editing tools of Fireworks to edit and combine digital images and to create simple logos. This work acted as a preparation for students to begin the Graphics module (D203) of their DiDA qualification in September.
Sample images from the sessions can be found in the this album in our gallery section:
