A busy first day.

Hello everyone,

It is Friday 11:23pm our time.

We add a very full itinerary today and i’m a bit tired so excuse the spelling mistakes. Here’s an update.

The flights went ok, Continental airlines were very good. The flight attendents were amiable if a bit too happy. The food on the airlines was overcooked, as you would expect, but we had enough to get us trhough the 9 hours of flights. For some reason, Sam’s take on luggage got searched twice, but everything was okay. There was lots of security everywhere and we had to remove our shoes during the check-in for the second flight!

A Mcdonalds Brekky Before the first flight.

Lawrence trying out an easy chair in between flights

We got to the hotel yesterday (The Wakulla Family Suites hotel, Cocoa Beach) , it is ok- a bit smelly when we first arrived probably because it is so humid. We are in suites with 2 double bedrooms, a lounge, kitchen, and bathroom. This has worked out well as we get to know the other ppl on the trip.

The hotel outdoor area.

This morning we had a quick walk to the beach, it was only 2 minutes away!

Today we went to the NASA space centre in florida. There were lots of excellent presentations and we saw some of the older rockets. We saw 2 excellent space movies and went to a planetarium. We went to a all you can eat buffet at a chinese restaurant the food was very good and it only cost 10 dollars. Lawrence went for lots of deserts  and 3 pints of coke whereas Archana had some vegtables.

The pupils at nasa.

Everyone was tired when they got back and went to sleep. I figured out how to use the broadband in this hotel to do thid post. thanks for all of your comments. the pupils have behaved impecably and will hopefully do some post tomorrow.

All the best Balraj Mehmi

    Hi Bal,
Glad the flights went okay, sorry about the smelly hotel. We’re really sorry about you being so close to the beach! Tell Lawrence that if he eats too much they’ll make him pay excess baggage on the return flight and his dentist won’t be happy about all that coke.

Nasa sounds great, I’m not jealous, keep on having fun and taking photos. These look a little dark at our end.

Hope the rest of the trip is as good as the first day.

    Pete

hello Mr Mehmi. thank you for your post. I’m glad you all had a smooth flight. The pictures are good and it’s nice to see the students enjoying themselves. Thank you again for the update for i was rather anxious for Archana. I’m sure I will hear from her today. Have a great time. from chandra.

Brilliant to see all the photos.
Seems as if you are very busy.
Hope the hotel rooms are not so smelly now!!
Look after yourselves, make sure that Lawrence does not eat too many puddings and drink too much coke!!
The weather forecast for the UK is awful for the whole week rain, rain more rain and floods.
Glad to hear that hurricane Wilma is calming down.
    Best wishes

    Hi everyone
Sounds like you are all having a great time in rocket land. Hope that you all qualified as astronauts and received your certificates. Now all you need is a rocket to use your new abilities!!!
It is really great to have your reports and photographs. we are able to share the experience with you in almost real time!
Keeping an eye on the hurricane, which is battering Cancun just now. It is a category 4 hurricane but expected to weaken to a 2 or 3 when it hits Florida. The forecasts have been getting slower and slower with it now likely to hit Florida around midday Monday. The biggest problem for you could be if your flight is delayed on Monday due to tropical storm winds. The storm should be moving pretty quickly though if that is the case.
I think Lawrence should get some lessons on proper eating from Archana. Nanny Gerda was not impressed with all that Coke as you can imagine!!!
Good news Lawrence, managed to get 2 camel backs for RIAT next year!
If anyone is interested it was Wolves 1 Preston 1 today.
    Enjoy the IMAX movie tomorrow
    Take care all
    Peter Clark
