(08/08/05) Space Camp 2005 has finished! Over the course of 5 days at the City Learning Centre, 16 students participated enthusiastically in a host of space-related activities, including building rockets, kites and Mars Landers, and creating clay animations and movies. Full details of each day, photographs and a sample student movie can be found on the Space Camp pages.
Every student created their own "Space Camp" t-shirt and was presented with a graduation certificate on the last day.

Today we had a great day. We made space landers that we had an egg and we made our rocket that launched our rockets up out of a tube. We went on the computer and went inside the ISS and looked around. You clicked on the question marks and it told you where you was.

Today we had a look round the International Space Station on the computer. We went outside it and inside it. We saw how it was built. We made a Mars Lander out of a plastic bag, a cup, string, balloons, and sellotape. The Lander had to land an egg on the ground without cracking it open. Ours was the only one that didn’t crack during landing.
We made plasticine models for our animation tomorrow.

Today when we came in we sat on the chairs and we carried on watching apollo 13 which we started to watch yesturday and i thought it was really good because it was about 3 men who went in to space and they were going to the moon but there was a problem with the space shuttle so they could’nt make it to the moon but they went round the moon and then they got back safely then we had a break and we went in to groups to make a thing that was going to land on the moon well, we were given an egg and we had to protect it and we had play money 2 million pounds and we had to buy supplies for our moon lander and then we had lunch. After that we went outside and we tried out our moon landers but all of the eggs broke apart from 1 egg. Then we came in and went on the computers and we went on a program that made us feel like we were in a space station and it was good . After we went on the carpet and we talked about models and we made our own models out of plasticene and then we went on the computer and wrote these. I am looking foward to tommorrow the last day and i have had a really good week and can’t wait till tommorrow. My favourite part was when we went on the space station on the computer that was fun.

Today we were learning about rockets. We looked at people that had gone on the moon like Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. We made all kinds of rockets. First we made a balloon rocket then a paper rocet and the last rocket was a card rocket.
